3 Months after Trump was in office I had 3 offers all over 180k after having been unemployed for 10 months. Also more recently found out H1Bs were having no issues finding work during that same period. During that same period where I was unemployed a lot of people like me were complaining in HN - a lot of that has quieted down since mid last year. Anyone else have a similar story?
I've seen more than one company prioritize visa labor and offshoring to control labor costs versus hiring US citizen workers (reported to USCIS whenever feasible). Anecdotal, but appears to be a response when companies lost control during the great resignation period after the pandemic. With that said, I've written in many comments about how millions of workers leave the US labor force every year due to retirement or death, which I believe is what is holding down jobless claims.
